OUR MISSION

Our mission is to build community resilience and cross-sector collaboration to mitigate trauma's impact on children and families. We do this by addressing funding equity gaps and advocating for the implementation of trauma-informed approaches in organizations that support vulnerable communities.

our principles

Prevention

Prevention of adversity requires advocacy, continuous improvement, and long-term funding.

Early education/Care

Awareness of interventions for early childhood education/care is a priority for all spaces that interact with parents/caregivers (both current and future).

Mental Health

Mental Health and wellness is a cross-cutting factor that impacts the capacity and system of support for individuals and organizations.

Community Voice

Community Voice determines our data and success metrics to bring equity to data.

Equity & Justice

Establishing equity within individuals and systems long-term is the pathway to justice.

Priority areas

BYE Foundation works to identify and address equity gaps in funding, data, research, capacity building, and family and community wellness. We support the implementation of trauma-informed approaches for pediatric healthcare, juvenile courts, early childhood education, public education, and small grassroots organizations.

Parents/Caregivers

Through parent education & engagement, we teach parents about positive and adverse childhood experiences, parent wellness, and parent advocacy. We prioritize parents/caregivers of children birth-5 to ensure children are on track to reach 3rd-grade literacy.

Pediatricians

We work with pediatricians to improve pediatric outcomes and increase social, emotional & behavioral interventions through ACEs learning and implementation. We also aspire to work to help OBGYNs become trauma-informed.

Schools

We help schools by supporting the development of a culture that addresses the needs of all students, staff, administrators, and families who has experienced or are at risk of experiencing trauma.

Courts

Through advocacy, we support and help judges, court officers, and court administrators understand trauma's origin and lasting effects, including its connection to behaviors inside and outside the courtroom. This reduces retraumatization and disrupts the school-to-prison pipeline.

Small Grassroots Organizations

We aspire to fund grassroots organizations that offer buffers of support and positive childhood experiences, such as afterschool programs, youth wellness programs, at-home nurse visiting models, parent engagement activities, summer camps/programs, and more.
